Materials and Construction
The materials and construction methods used can have a significant bearing on your preferred brown shoes. Below, you will find information about the leather types and crafting methods used, along with best practices for maintenance:
Leather Types
At Bobbies, we use high-quality leathers selected from LWG-certified European tanneries. Our pull-up leather, for example, is of exceptional quality and develops colour nuances as it stretches, giving your shoes a unique look. Suede leather, on the other hand, offers excellent softness and warmth, making it a great choice for comfort.
Construction Methods
Bobbies' brown shoes are hand-crafted in traditional workshops, including our own in-house workshop in Santa Maria da Fiera, Portugal. All of our partner workshops are based in Europe and operate on a human-scale, ensuring the personal touch our customers expect. From pattern making and cutting, to stitching and finishing, every step is handled with great care, using traditional techniques that have stood the test of time.
Maintenance and Care
Shoecare is essential for getting the most from your new purchase. We recommend using a shoehorn to retain the shape of your shoes over time. We also advise you use a waterproofing spray on suede shoes, allowing you to wear them in the rain and avoid stains. For smooth and grained leather, use an appropriate shoe polish. Ideally, this should match the colour of the shoe. If this is not possible, opt for a colourless polish instead.
